Andhra Pradesh’s 108 emergency ambulance services have emerged as a lifeline for lakhs of people under the coalition government, providing timely medical assistance and strengthening emergency healthcare delivery across the state. Operated by Bhavya Health Care, the service has integrated advanced technology and improved response mechanisms to ensure that patients receive medical attention during the crucial “golden hour,” significantly enhancing survival rates in emergencies.

According to official figures, the 108 ambulance network responded to a total of 7,78,799 emergency cases across Andhra Pradesh between June 2025 and May 2026. The service played a critical role in saving lives by providing rapid transportation and pre-hospital care to patients suffering from accidents, cardiac emergencies, respiratory illnesses, pregnancy-related complications and other medical emergencies.

Among the cases attended during the one-year period, 1,13,764 involved road accident victims who received emergency medical assistance during the golden hour. The service also safely transported 1,05,786 pregnant women to hospitals, contributing significantly to maternal and child healthcare. Emergency teams responded to 97,118 respiratory distress cases, 49,342 non-vehicular injury cases, 45,951 cardiac emergencies, 40,553 unconsciousness cases, 34,532 severe abdominal pain cases, 32,858 poisoning cases, 29,485 seizure-related emergencies, 27,455 severe fever cases, 20,278 paralysis cases, 15,441 assault-related injuries, 14,088 animal bite incidents and 14,007 neonatal emergencies. In addition, another 1,38,141 cases involved various other medical emergencies requiring immediate intervention.

Of the total cases handled during the period, 2,53,022 were Inter-Facility Transfers (IFT), involving the movement of patients from one hospital to another for advanced treatment. The remaining 5,25,777 cases were Non-IFT emergencies, where patients were directly transported from accident sites, homes or emergency locations to hospitals for treatment.

Cardiac emergencies remained one of the most critical categories handled by the service. With every minute proving crucial in heart-related cases, 108 ambulance teams responded to 45,951 cardiac emergencies over the year. Equipped with trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and modern life-support equipment, ambulance crews provided immediate medical intervention and stabilisation before transporting patients to healthcare facilities. The service also responded swiftly to cases involving chest pain, breathing difficulties and other life-threatening conditions, often making the difference between life and death.

Officials said the success of the emergency response system has been driven by continuous technological upgrades, efficient monitoring systems and the dedication of frontline medical personnel. EMTs working in the ambulances provide critical pre-hospital care until patients reach medical facilities, helping improve treatment outcomes and save thousands of lives every year.

Speaking on the performance of the service, representatives of Bhavya Health Care stated that their primary objective is to ensure timely emergency medical assistance for every individual in distress. They said the organisation is committed to further strengthening the 108 emergency network through advanced technology, skilled personnel and improved operational systems to maintain public trust and deliver even better services in the future.

The performance of the 108 ambulance service has drawn appreciation from beneficiaries across the state. From rural villages to urban centres, the service has become an essential component of Andhra Pradesh’s healthcare system, providing round-the-clock emergency assistance. For many families, a single call to 108 has proved to be a lifesaving intervention during moments of crisis.
