A major fire engulfed a three-storey commercial building housing KSR Fashions near Maitrivanam Junction in Ameerpet on Thursday, triggering panic among shopkeepers, commuters and local residents in one of the city's busiest commercial areas.

The fire broke out in the building located on Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar Road near Metro Pillar No. A1043 and quickly spread through all three floors. Massive flames and thick black smoke could be seen rising from the structure, with the intensity of the heat making it impossible for onlookers to approach the building. Visuals of the blaze circulated widely on social media, causing concern among people across the city.

The affected building is surrounded by several hotels, restaurants, clothing stores, computer outlets and mobile phone shops. Fearing that the flames could spread to neighbouring establishments, traders hurriedly removed valuable goods from their premises and evacuated the area. Many business owners were seen shifting merchandise and equipment to safer locations as a precautionary measure.

Fire and police personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident. Six fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze, while additional water tankers were being brought in to support firefighting operations. Firefighters worked continuously to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby commercial complexes.

The fire generated such dense smoke that visibility on the road was severely affected, with large sections of the area covered in thick black fumes. Authorities cordoned off portions of the locality to facilitate emergency operations and ensure public safety. According to officials, the intensity of the fire was heightened by the presence of a large quantity of garments and other combustible materials stored inside the KSR Fashions outlet. Fire personnel continued cooling operations even after bringing the major flames under control.

The incident also led to severe traffic congestion on the busy Ameerpet–SR Nagar stretch, affecting commuters during peak hours. Hyderabad Traffic Police advised motorists to avoid the route and use alternative roads until emergency operations were completed.

Police officials stated that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed inquiry. Authorities are assessing the extent of property damage while efforts continue to secure the affected premises and restore normalcy in the area.

He stated that Metro Rail services were not disrupted in any way and train operations continued normally. Although the dense smoke caused some inconvenience, there was no impact on Metro Rail operations.
