On the occasion of New Year's Day, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education, Satyakumar Yadav, wrote an open letter to government and private sector doctors and medical staff on Wednesday, stressing the need to immediately remove the shortcomings in medical services. In his two-page open letter, he explained the thoughts and concerns of the people regarding government and private hospitals and suggested that they be resolved. The Minister urged doctors and other staff to be redeployed to enhance the quality of medical services and to realize a healthy, prosperous and happy Andhra Pradesh as per the Swarna Andhra Pradesh-2047 Vision Document recently released by Chief Minister Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Explaining the opinions and concerns of the people regarding government hospitals, the Minister explained that there are shortcomings in the attitude of doctors, nursing staff and other medical staff towards patients, timely examination of patients, availability of doctors and other staff during the specified working hours, provision of outpatient(OP) and Inpatient(IP) services as directed by specialists and senior doctors, performance of diagnostic equipment, sending patients to private testing centers, and cleanliness. However, the  Minister complemented them by saying  that the increasing OP and IP registrations in government hospitals day by day reflect the trust people have in them.

The Minister said that since assuming charge as Minister, we have reviewed the problems in government hospitals several times and given clear instructions to resolve them. The Minister expressed confidence that the high-level monitoring and regular reviews organized by the NDA government in the state over the last six months have improved the quality of government medical services.
