Metro India News | AMARAVATI : The Andhra Pradesh government is preparing to reopen SADAREM slot bookings for around 40,000 persons with disabilities after the impact of the cyclone subsides. The Medical and Health Department said bookings would remain open for up to two months, with special permission obtained from the State Election Commission.

The government is introducing four changes to simplify registration and improve accessibility. Besides WhatsApp’s Mana Mitra service and village and ward secretariats, applicants can now book slots through the AP Seva Citizen Portal.Under the revised system, applicants who fail to attend medical examinations within six months of booking will no longer have their details remain active indefinitely, helping improve slot availability.

A single point of contact will also be introduced, with details of a designated official provided in advance to assist applicants visiting hospitals for assessments. Those who fail to meet the prescribed disability criteria but seek reassessment can book another slot through an OTP-based process, without approaching hospitals or filing grievances to remove their previous identification.

According to departmental figures, 1,38,612 people received slot bookings this year, of whom 1,28,410 utilised the facility. Medical examinations were attended by 1,11,163 applicants, while the remaining booked applicants did not turn up. The measures aim to reduce missed appointments, streamline assessments and improve access to the SADAREM system.
