AP Tourism Shines in NITI Aayog ‘Divya Bharat’ Report

Andhra Pradesh emerges as a top destination for nature, culture, Adventure and spirituality

Andhra Pradesh’s tourism sector has received a major boost with the NITI Aayog highlighting the state prominently in its report “Divya Bharat – A Window to the Soul of India.” The report showcases India’s diverse cultural, spiritual, and natural wealth, placing Andhra Pradesh among the most attractive destinations for global travellers. It underscores the rapid progress made by the state’s tourism sector under the current administration.

The report, spanning 13 pages and accompanied by a short promotional video, presents Andhra Pradesh as a destination that offers a complete travel experience. It recommends the period between October and February as the best time to visit and provides detailed guidance on seasonal travel across regions. The recognition strengthens the vision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, who have been focusing on positioning the state on the global tourism map.

Highlighting the state’s natural diversity, the report lists destinations such as Araku Valley, Lambasingi, Maredumilli, Papikondalu, and the Nallamala forests, along with water bodies like Kolleru and Pulicat lakes. It also draws attention to iconic sites including Borra Caves and Belum Caves, and heritage landmarks such as Gandikota and Lepakshi. Coastal attractions like Rushikonda and Suryalanka beaches further enhance the state’s appeal.

Spiritual tourism forms a major highlight, with revered destinations such as Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, Srisailam Temple, Kanaka Durga Temple, Simhachalam, and Srikalahasti drawing millions of devotees annually. The report also notes the state’s rich cultural heritage, including classical dance forms like Kuchipudi, traditional festivals, and its renowned hospitality.

In addition to destinations, the report celebrates Andhra Pradesh’s cuisine and craftsmanship. Popular dishes such as Pulihora, Pesarattu, Gongura Pachadi, and Ragi Sangati, along with sweets like Pootharekulu and Ariselu, reflect the state’s culinary richness. Handloom traditions like Mangalagiri, Venkatagiri, and Uppada Jamdani, along with crafts such as Kondapalli toys and Kalamkari, further add to its cultural identity.
