The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has witnessed a significant surge in earnings during the Sankranti festival, thanks to the deployment of extensive special services to accommodate the holiday rush. From January 8 to January 13, APSRTC operated nearly 3,400 additional buses to handle the spike in passenger demand as people traveled to their hometowns for the celebrations. To ensure smooth return journeys, the corporation scheduled another 3,800 services between January 16 and January 20.
In a statement, APSRTC Managing Director announced that the special buses were offered at regular fares, with no additional charges levied on passengers. In a further effort to enhance convenience and affordability, passengers who booked round-trip tickets in advance were given a 10% discount. This initiative not only encouraged advance bookings but also contributed to record passenger numbers.

APSRTC's proactive measures and customer-centric policies have played a key role in this success. “We focused on providing seamless transportation for passengers during the festive season without burdening them with additional costs,” said D. Tirumala Rap, Managing Director.
Last year, APSRTC achieved a total revenue of Rs.12 crore during Sankranti, transporting around 4,30,000 passengers. This year’s performance is on course to surpass that, showcasing the corporation’s improved efficiency and strategic planning.
To accommodate the influx of travelers, APSRTC ensured the availability of well-maintained buses, increased frequency on key routes, and enhanced coordination at bus stations. Feedback from passengers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the punctuality and affordability of the services.
As the return journeys conclude, APSRTC anticipates additional earnings that will likely exceed the set revenue target. The corporation’s robust planning and commitment to customer satisfaction have solidified its reputation as a reliable travel partner during the festive season.
