The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has announced plans to operate 7,200 special buses during the upcoming Sankranti festival to cater to the increased demand for travel.
The festival, which is a major holiday season in the Telugu states, typically sees a surge in people traveling to their hometowns. To accommodate the expected influx of passengers, the APSRTC will be running a significant number of additional buses to various destinations, including Telangana and other neighboring states.
These special buses will be available from January 8 to 13. According to the APSRTC, a total of 2,153 buses will be operated from Hyderabad to other destinations, 375 buses from Bengaluru, and 300 additional buses from Vijayawada. For the return journey, 3,200 special buses will be available from January 16 to 20.
The APSRTC has clarified that there will be no additional charges for traveling in these special buses. Passengers can also avail a 10% discount if they book round trip tickets in advance. Online booking facility will be available for these special buses.
With this move, the APSRTC aims to ensure smooth and convenient travel for passengers during the festive season. The increased number of buses is expected to help reduce overcrowding and provide a comfortable journey experience for travellers.
