Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced that the state government will launch a massive month-long public awareness campaign on the benefits of the newly introduced GST 2.0 reforms, beginning this Dasara and continuing until Diwali. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister described the revamped tax structure as “Super GST,” which he said would bring substantial relief to citizens, particularly the poor and middle class. He estimated that the reforms would help save nearly Rs 8,000 crore for the people of the state.
“Just as the Super Six schemes transformed lives, the Centre’s decision to introduce GST 2.0 as Super GST will greatly benefit every household. The reforms are designed to change lives, create wealth, and support our long-term vision for Andhra Pradesh. These measures will guide future generations towards prosperity,” CM Chandrababu said. The Chief Minister highlighted that 99% of essential commodities now attract zero tax under the new GST regime, benefiting households, MSMEs, and small traders. Prices of agricultural equipment, medicines, educational supplies, clothing, sports goods, and household items are expected to decline significantly.
He added that the reforms will support Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat campaigns by boosting domestic manufacturing and enabling Indian products to compete globally. “Buying Indian products means directly contributing to the nation’s growth. GST 2.0 will ensure ease of doing business, create global opportunities, and push Andhra Pradesh towards Swarna Andhra,” he remarked. To ensure that every citizen understands the reforms, the government is rolling out a statewide campaign with more than 65,000 programs.
The drive will include awareness meetings, seminars, sand art exhibitions, hoardings, outreach events, and innovative contests such as selfie campaigns on social media. The campaign will cover villages, towns, and district headquarters, with active participation from public representatives, students, officials, and community groups. Special efforts will also be made through gram and ward secretariats, as well as 10,000 Rythu Seva Kendras.
Educational institutions will host essay competitions, while print and electronic media will highlight the reforms. Shops will be instructed to display reduced post-GST prices to visibly demonstrate the savings to consumers .Earlier in the day, a Cabinet sub-committee chaired by IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh met at the Assembly chambers to discuss the action plan for the campaign. Finance Minister P. Keshav, Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha, Kandula Durgesh, Satyakumar Yadav, and senior officials participated.
