Farmers from Nalgonda, Suryapet, Gajwel, and Sangareddy districts who were affected by the Regional Ring Road (RRR) alignment met BRS working President K T Rama Rao at Telangana Bhavan on Monday.
KTR assured the farmers that the BRS would stand by them, citing the party's history of supporting agriculture and irrigation projects. He criticized Congress leaders, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, for breaking their pre-election promises, which had led farmers to vote for Congress. After assuming power, Congress altered the RRR alignment, causing severe losses to the farmers, KTR pointed out.
The BRS leader claimed that while the BRS had always worked directly with farmers to address land acquisition issues, Congress repeatedly changed the alignments of infrastructure projects, damaging the livelihoods of poor farmers.
KTR declared that BRS MPs would raise the issue in Parliament and the Assembly, ensuring the government is held accountable. He urged farmers not to lose hope and avoid hasty decisions, assuring them of BRS’s support until a scientifically planned alignment is established. To build unity, KTR called on RRR victims to pass resolutions in villages and boycott local elections, a move he believes will force both state and central governments to take action.
