Alleges negligence in disbursing retirement benefits to former employees

In a strongly worded open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has lambasted the state government for its alleged negligence in disbursing retirement benefits to former employees, questioning the administration's humanity and accountability.

Highlighting the plight of retired government workers, Bandi Sanjay pointed out that many have been waiting for over two years to receive their due benefits, describing the delay as "wicked" and a source of immense mental agony. He revealed that government indifference has led to the untimely deaths of 61 retired employees, who succumbed amid financial and emotional distress. "Do you have any humanity left, CM garu? Is there no responsibility on your part for these tragic losses?" the letter asks, underscoring the moral failing.

The Minister criticized the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government for treating serving and retired employees as a "non-priority category," calling it a "permanent black mark" on Telangana's reputation. He emphasized that retirees, in the twilight of their lives, deserve peaceful existence rather than being subjected to harassment by the very administration they served. Bandi Sanjay praised Telangana society's inherent compassion, noting that people readily help even unknown elders in need, and questioned why the government fails to honor its own by promptly settling benefits upon retirement with due respect.

Demanding immediate action, he urged the CM to prioritize the clearance of all pending dues. "Failure to do so will invite large-scale agitations," he warned, adding that he would not hesitate to lead a dharna at the heart of Hyderabad until the government relents.
