Backward Class (BC) leaders have demanded that local body elections in Telangana be held only after implementing 42% reservations for BCs, as promised in the Kamareddy Declaration. They urged the state cabinet to defer any decision on polls until the reservation enhancement is finalized.

National president of the BC Welfare Association, Jajula Srinivas Goud, and BC Intellectual Forum chairman T. Chiranjeevulu criticized both the Centre and state for neglecting BC rights. They questioned why a government that waited 18 months to act on reservations couldn't wait 18 more days to do the right thing.

The leaders called upon Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to lead an all-party delegation to Delhi and pressure the Centre into increasing BC reservations. They warned that proceeding with elections without the hike would spark widespread protests. The Congress and BJP were accused of showing disregard for BC welfare and shirking their responsibilities.

The BC leaders made it clear that unless the reservation quota is raised, the community would not endorse the elections. They also urged BC intellectuals to support ongoing protests if the government fails to act.
