BCs should lead BJP in Telangana: Jajula Srinivas Goud

BC Welfare Association National President Jajula Srinivas Goud urged the BJP leadership to appoint a Backward Classes (BC) leader as Telangana BJP president, citing that BCs constitute nearly 60% of the state’s population. With the party expected to announce its new state chief soon, Goud stressed that the appointment should reflect this demographic strength.

He recalled that during the previous Assembly elections, BJP had pledged to make a BC the Chief Minister. However, after the polls, the legislature party leader position went to an upper-caste member. Goud pointed out that the state president post has also consistently gone to upper-caste leaders, contradicting the party’s promise.

Recent media speculation about upper-caste names being considered again has raised concerns among BC groups. Goud warned that failing to fulfill earlier commitments could alienate a significant section of the electorate.

He cited Haryana as an example where BJP retained power after fulfilling its BC CM promise, emphasizing that political awareness among BCs in Telangana is growing. Highlighting Congress’s move to appoint BCs to key posts, he urged the BJP to do the same. Appointing a BC as Telangana BJP president would strengthen the party’s image and connect with BC voters, he said.
