Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday clarified allegations concerning Singareni coal block tenders, terming a recent report in a vernacular daily as fabricated and aimed at misleading the public with “stories and small narratives.”
Speaking at a media conference at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad, he said he did not enter politics to expand business empires or to enjoy positions of power. He emphasized that he came into politics with a specific purpose—to protect Telangana’s assets from looters, criminals, and vested interests, and to ensure the state’s resources reach the public.
Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Telugu daily is setting a new narrative regarding the tenders. He alleged that the story was cooked up for someone’s benefit, describing it as a “fabricated story” that misrepresented facts. He clarified that the tender rules for Singareni Collieries are decided by the board, and ministers have no role in framing them.
He said that immediately after allegations surfaced, he suggested the tenders be cancelled. He added that while the board informed him that no bids had yet been received, he still advised that the tenders be cancelled and called fresh ones. Bhatti Vikramarka said the report appeared to be politically motivated, stemming from personal displeasure with former CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy, and aimed at discrediting him.
He asserted that he would not remain silent if attempts were made to tarnish the reputation of officials, ministers, or the government. Stressing his integrity, he said he lives transparently and entered politics to protect the state from looters, criminals, and organised crime. He reaffirmed that both he and the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with other ministers, are working for the wider benefit of Telangana’s people.
The Deputy CM underlined that he has spent over 40 years fighting for the public inside and outside the legislature, and he is not someone who can be intimidated by cheap stories. He warned against media creating divisions among leaders by publishing fabricated reports. He said one channel unnecessarily dragged his name into such stories, which should be avoided.
Bhatti Vikramarka concluded that no one has the authority to write stories that malign an individual’s character or create disputes among leaders. He said he will soon provide full details after examining the political motives behind the report and reiterated his commitment to safeguarding Telangana’s resources from looters, criminals, and organised crime.
