Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has remarked that Bhu Bharati is a landmark initiative and represents a unique law being implemented by the Telangana government in the history of India.

The Deputy Chief Minister, along with Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, launched the Bhu Bharati survey pilot project at Mulugumadu village of Madhira constituency in Khammam district on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka said the main objective of Bhu Bharati is to survey farmers’ lands, clearly identify boundaries and eliminating all disputes regarding land ownership. He alleged that the Dharani law introduced by the previous BRS government trampled on farmers’ rights and it alienated farmers from their own land.

"BRS leaders manipulated the system, allocating lands to their preferred individuals. The Dharani law was brought in such a way that no corrections or revisions could be made. In many instances, passbooks were issued for 17 acres where only 10 acres existed," Bhatti Vikramarka said. "We will review all those assigned lands and issue rightful land titles to eligible beneficiaries and ensure they are settled on their land," he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that for the landless poor, the State government is restarting the Assigned Committees under the leadership of MLAs through the Bhu Bharati Act to allocate agricultural land and housing plots. "The Bhu Bharati Act is a victory for the people. It will uphold and formalize the legal rights of farmers over their land. The enthusiasm shown by the entire village of Mulugumadu for this pilot survey clearly indicates that this new law will bring immense prestige to the State government," he added.
