The Telangana Forest Development Corporation (TGFDC) organized a Bird Walk at the Botanical Garden on Sunday, attracting 18 bird watchers and enthusiasts from various parts of Hyderabad.
Participants were welcomed by Projects Manager (Eco-Tourism) K. Suman and Naturalist Aparanjani, who provided insights into the garden’s biodiversity and distributed the TGFDC-developed Birds Pocket Guide to aid in species identification.
During the walk, experts guided attendees on birdwatching techniques, identification methods, and the distinct calls of various birds. Among the species spotted were Shikra, Peafowl, Black Drongo, Green Bee-eater, Kingfisher, Spot-billed Duck, Painted Stork, Oriole, Asian Koel, Indian Myna, Copper Smith Barbet, Red-vented Bulbul, Swallow, Red-wattled Lapwing, Indian Silverbills, and Grey Francolin.
TGFDC Executive Director (Eco-Tourism) Ranjit Naik emphasized the vital role birds play in the ecosystem, contributing to seed dispersal and environmental balance. He stressed the importance of conservation awareness, warning that without proactive measures, future generations might only see birds in museums.
The next Bird Walk is scheduled for May 25, at Forest Trek Park, with interested participants encouraged to contact 9493549399 or 9346364583 for details. Officials present at the event included Assistant Director (Eco-Tourism) V.
