In a significant political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership has finalized Paka Satyanarayana as the alliance candidate for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Andhra Pradesh. The seat fell vacant following the resignation of senior YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader V Vijayasai Reddy.
According to party sources, the decision was taken after a series of internal consultations at the highest level of the BJP and alliance parties TDP and Jana Sena. The alliance believes that Satyanarayana’s nomination will not only strengthen Andhra Pradesh representation but also bring in a fresh face with strong regional appeal to the upper house of Parliament.
Vijayasai Reddy, who played a key role in YSRCP’s strategy at the national level, had recently tendered his resignation, creating an unexpected vacancy. Paka Satyanarayana is known for his organizational capabilities and is considered a loyal and experienced member of the BJP in Andhra Pradesh. His candidature is expected to enhance the party’s efforts to expand its footprint in the state, where it is striving to emerge as a significant political force.
The official announcement of Satyanarayana’s nomination is out on Monday evening, and the BJP is expected to gear up for the formalities of filing his nomination papers in the coming days.
