Telangana BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday strongly criticised the Congress government in the state, accusing it of misusing public funds while repeatedly claiming that the state treasury is empty. Speaking at a party joining programme in Hyderabad, he alleged that the government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was spending crores of rupees on election campaigning in other states while failing to fulfil promises made to the people of Telangana.

Rao claimed that despite frequently stating that the state exchequer is depleted, the Congress government was issuing full-page colour advertisements in Kerala as part of its election campaign using Telangana taxpayers’ money. According to him, while the government says it does not have sufficient funds to implement welfare schemes, it is spending heavily on publicity outside the state. He said the Congress government had promised six major guarantees to the people of Telangana during the Assembly elections but had failed to fully implement them even after coming to power. Instead of focusing on fulfilling those commitments, Rao alleged that the government was prioritising political campaigns in other states.

Describing the move as an insult to the people of Telangana, Rao said public funds should be used for development and welfare within the state rather than for election campaigns elsewhere. He said the BJP would continue to question the government over what he described as the misuse of taxpayers’ money.

During the programme, several leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi in the Maheshwaram constituency joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Ramchander Rao. Member of Parliament Konda Vishweshwar Reddy also participated in the event.

Addressing the gathering, Rao asserted that the BJP would not enter into an alliance with any political party in the state. He said the people of Telangana were increasingly looking towards the BJP as a strong alternative to both the Congress and the BRS.

According to him, both parties had already been given opportunities to govern the state but had failed to meet public expectations. Rao said the BJP was committed to providing transparent governance and development-oriented leadership if given a chance by the people.

Rao also accused the Congress party of creating unnecessary fear among citizens regarding international tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel. He said that despite such geopolitical developments, India was not facing any shortage of crude oil and that the country’s fuel supply system remained stable.

He stated that India does not depend on a single country for crude oil imports but sources oil from multiple nations. According to him, this diversified strategy helps ensure uninterrupted supply even during periods of international instability.

Rao pointed out that during the tenure of the United Progressive Alliance government, India imported oil from only about 16 countries. However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the number of supplier nations had increased significantly to around 40.

He described this diversification as a strategic decision that had strengthened India’s energy security and reduced dependence on any single region. According to Rao, such measures had enabled India to maintain stability in fuel supply despite global tensions.

Rao also assured that women would not face any problems regarding LPG cylinder availability. He said the country had sufficient buffer stocks and strong import coverage to ensure uninterrupted supply of cooking gas.

He further noted that crude oil imports had increased in recent months, reflecting the strength of the supply system. Rao said that even though global crude prices had risen, India had not faced any major fuel price crisis due to careful planning and diversified procurement strategies.

Accusing the Congress party of spreading misinformation, Rao said some leaders were asking citizens to stock up LPG cylinders and fuel, which he described as irresponsible and misleading.

Such statements, he said, could create unnecessary panic among the public.

Concluding his speech, Rao urged the Congress party to stop spreading misinformation and avoid creating unnecessary fear among citizens. He said that despite international tensions, there was no shortage of petrol, diesel, crude oil or LPG in India.

Rao also called upon women and youth to join the BJP in large numbers and welcomed the leaders who joined the party during the programme, expressing confidence that the BJP would continue to strengthen its presence across Telangana.
