Boat drivers trained in CPR skills in Hyderabad

As part of efforts to strengthen emergency response at tourist water bodies, Lodge Keys No. 297, a primary wing of Freemasonry, in association with GVK Green Health Services and with support from the Telangana Tourism Department, organised a three-hour Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training programme for boat drivers at Hussain Sagar on Tuesday.

The practical session was held aboard the stationary boat Khair-Un-Nissa, enabling participants to train in conditions similar to their workplace. Thirty-two boat drivers and support staff from water tourism destinations, including Hussain Sagar, Durgam Cheruvu, Saroornagar Lake, Somasila, Egalapenta, Nagarjuna Sagar, Laknavaram, Ramappa, Koilsagar, Lower Manair Dam, Kotilingala and Raigir, attended.

The training, conducted by doctors and clinical instructors from GVK Green Health Services using eight advanced CPR mannequins, covered recognition of sudden cardiac arrest, the Chain of Survival, adult, child and infant CPR, rescue breathing, AED operation, choking management and recovery position techniques.

The programme is part of the "1,000 CPR Ambassadors" campaign launched during the 30th anniversary of Lodge Keys No. 297. With the latest batch, the number of trained CPR Brand Ambassadors has reached 818. Certificates were presented to participants, while organisers urged institutions and communities to avail of the free CPR training initiative.
