BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan on Sunday condemned the alleged remarks made by BJP leaders, including Union Minister Bandi Sanjay and MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, against students protesting over the alleged NEET paper leak. Demanding an unconditional apology, Sravan warned that the BJP leaders would face consequences for making derogatory comments against students fighting for justice.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan, Sravan accused BJP leaders of attempting to malign the student movement by branding protesters as anti-national and alleging that they were backed by Bangladesh and Pakistan. He said such statements were irresponsible and aimed at diverting attention from the demand for accountability over alleged examination irregularities under the NDA government.

Sravan said the protests at Jantar Mantar reflected a nationwide student and youth movement and demonstrated the power of democratic protests. He claimed the agitation forced the Centre to respond to the concerns raised by students. Criticising Konda Vishweshwar Reddy’s reported comments on the protests, Sravan said students had the constitutional right to express their concerns and warned against underestimating their strength. “Students are like burning embers. Do not provoke them or underestimate their power,” he said.

Sravan added that the alleged NEET paper leak had caused severe distress among students and families, with several students losing their lives. He said the protests highlighted failures in the examination system and questioned the Centre’s handling of the issue.
