Minister for IT and Industries, D. Sridhar Babu, on Wednesday, accused leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of indulging in politics under the guise of farmer solidarity and attempting to mislead people over land acquisition issues in Vikarabad district.
In an official statement, the Minister alleged that the ‘political yatras’ organized by BRS leaders were aimed at creating confusion among farmers, spreading misinformation, and obstructing the State government’s efforts to promote industrial development and attract investments. He termed the opposition’s criticism as ‘crocodile tears’ and said such actions were detrimental to the region’s progress.
Sridhar Babu emphasized that Vikarabad, which he said remained neglected under the previous regime, is now being integrated into the development mainstream through carefully planned industrial and infrastructure initiatives. He highlighted the growing demand for land to support industrial expansion, noting that existing industrial parks such as Chandanvelly and Sitarampur have limited availability and face constraints including legal disputes and inadequate access infrastructure.
To address future industrial requirements, the government has proposed the creation of a land bank. Areas such as Kodangal and Pargi have been identified as potential zones for industrial expansion, with plans to enhance connectivity through radial roads and the Regional Ring Road.
The Minister assured that land acquisition would be carried out strictly in accordance with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, ensuring transparency, due process, and fairness. He dismissed allegations regarding inadequate compensation as baseless, stating that affected landowners would receive compensation, rehabilitation benefits, and house sites as per legal provisions.
Appealing to farmers and the public, Sridhar Babu reiterated that industrial development would generate employment opportunities, curb migration, and improve regional infrastructure. He urged people not to be influenced by politically motivated campaigns and assured that the government remains committed to safeguarding the interests and welfare of all affected families.
