BRS resurgence begins from Panchayat Polls: KTR

Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the growing culture of defections, asserting that Telangana is witnessing an unprecedented decline in political ethics under Congress rule. Addressing a felicitation meeting of newly elected Sarpanches, Deputy Sarpanches and Ward Members at the Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district party office, KTR said people are increasingly realising the “reality and failures” of the Congress government and are once again reposing faith in BRS.

KTR alleged that defections have been shamelessly normalised by the Congress as a survival strategy, eroding democratic values. Leaders who once spoke of ideology are now justifying their defection in the name of development, he said, remarking that some defected MLAs are unable to even clearly state their party affiliation on the Assembly floor. He accused the Speaker of ignoring defections at the behest of the Chief Minister, calling it a mockery of constitutional propriety.

Targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR said the state is being run on loud claims and false promises. He accused the Congress of misleading people with pre-poll assurances such as enhanced pensions and welfare schemes, while failing to deliver even basic support to farmers, with Rythu Bandhu remaining stalled. Public sentiment, he said, reflects regret over replacing an efficient government with an ineffective one.

KTR also charged the Congress with encouraging vindictive and violent politics, citing repeated attacks on BRS workers in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, including the murder of a party activist and assaults on candidates. He alleged misuse of officials and recounting practices to overturn BRS victories in over 150 villages, warning that the party would seek justice through legal means.

Highlighting the Panchayat poll results, KTR said BRS secured 161 Sarpanch seats in this district alone, marking a strong comeback despite alleged intimidation. This verdict, he said, has boosted cadre morale and signalled the beginning of BRS’s revival from the very region where it earlier faced setbacks.

Calling upon party ranks to prepare for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections, KTR urged coordinated efforts to ensure victory for the BRS ‘Car’ symbol. He reiterated that welfare schemes are constitutional rights, not the property of Congress leaders, and assured full support to BRS representatives. Recalling the governance of former Chief Minister KCR, KTR said the development and welfare achieved under BRS remain the benchmark and continue to inspire public trust.
