Cancer awareness Walkathon held in Khammam

Khammam: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Gemcare Cancer Institute, Khammam organized a Cancer Awareness Walkathon to educate the public on cancer prevention, early detection, and timely treatment. The walkathon began at Pavilion Ground and concluded at Gemcare Cancer Institute, with enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups, reinforcing the message that awareness is the first and most crucial step in cancer care.

Addressing the gathering, Senior Radiation Oncologist Dr. Sudhakar Kotlapati highlighted that in tier-3 cities like Khammam, lack of awareness and delayed diagnosis often result in cancers being detected at advanced stages. He emphasized that early detection and modern treatments can cure many cancers, but awareness remains the biggest challenge.

Senior Medical Oncologist Dr. Nukkasani Subba Rao, Surgical Oncologist Dr. Harish Ravoori, and Oncopathologist Dr. Amrutha G stated that Gemcare offers comprehensive cancer care under one roof, with advanced facilities like 4D TrueBeam Radiation Therapy and PET-CT scanning. The walkathon concluded with a strong reminder that timely awareness can save lives.
