‘Celebrating second chances - Life with kidney transplant patients’ sees enthusiastic participation

Yashoda Hospitals successfully concluded the ‘Celebrating Second Chances – Life with Kidney Transplant Patients’ event at Hitec City with the support of Cheyutha Foundation for Organ Transplants, Care for Your Kidney Foundation, and Kidney Warriors Foundation.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from 280 kidney transplant recipients, dialysis patients, kidney donors, and dialysis technicians from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Rajashekara Chakravarthy, Clinical Director and HOD of Nephrology and Transplant Services, discussed the growing burden of kidney disease in India. He emphasized early detection, prevention strategies, and careful monitoring to prevent progression from acute kidney injury to chronic kidney disease.

Dr. Venuthurla Ram Mohan Reddy, Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, highlighted bone disease complications commonly seen in kidney patients and the importance of managing bone health effectively.

Dr. Ajit Babu Manji, Lead Consultant Vitreo-Retinal Services, addressed retinal diseases in kidney patients, underscoring the critical need for regular eye care in this vulnerable group. A total of 285 participants attended the event. The event honored 10 Senior Kidney Recipients for their resilience and long-term success and 80 Kidney Donors for their life-saving generosity.

The event celebrated the strength of kidney transplant patients, the commitment of dialysis technicians, and the selflessness of kidney donors. It reinforced the importance of organ donation, comprehensive post-transplant care, and community support.
