Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a piped natural gas (PNG) supply system to households in Tiruchanur, Tirupati district, on Sunday.

The initiative, aimed at providing clean and affordable energy directly to homes, marks a significant step toward creating a pollution-free society. The event also saw the launch of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, further underlining the government’s commitment to green energy solutions.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the transformative changes underway in the energy sector. He reiterated his vision to provide clean fuel directly to households through an expansive pipeline network. “This project is a testament to our commitment to fostering a clean, green, and sustainable Andhra Pradesh,” he stated.

Naidu noted that the groundwork for the pipeline-based natural gas supply system was laid between 2014 and 2019 during his tenure. Plans were designed to ensure the supply of natural gas to 9.9 million households across the state. To implement the project, consultations were held with five major companies, and the initial rollout of the pipeline network will focus on the Rayalaseema districts.

Drawing comparisons with other regions, the Chief Minister pointed out that similar systems are already operational in five states. He emphasized that Andhra Pradesh has abundant natural resources, including significant gas reserves. However, much of this gas has historically been utilized by other states.

“It is time for Andhra Pradesh to harness its resources for its own growth and transition into a green energy hub,” Naidu said. Elaborating on the state’s ambitions in the energy sector, Chandrababu Naidu expressed optimism about Andhra Pradesh’s potential to lead the way in clean and green energy.

He underscored that the world is moving toward sustainable energy solutions and that Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a significant player in this global shift. “The world is progressing towards clean energy, and Andhra Pradesh will soon transform into a green energy hub,” he remarked.

He also discussed the far-reaching benefits of green energy, which include reduced environmental pollution and long-term sustainability. Naidu revealed future plans to export green hydrogen, emphasizing its potential to bring economic growth and global recognition to the state.

As part of the event, Naidu also launched CNG vehicles, which are expected to play a crucial role in reducing vehicular pollution. He highlighted that this initiative aligns with the broader vision of creating a pollution-free society. CNG vehicles offer a cleaner alternative to traditional fuel-powered vehicles, contributing to improved air quality in urban areas.
