A performance review conducted by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during the recent District Collectors’ Conference at the State Secretariat has triggered intense discussion in political circles. In an unusual move aimed at improving administrative efficiency, the Chief Minister publicly presented data-based ratings of ministers based on how quickly files are being cleared in their respective departments.
According to the report presented by the Chief Minister, Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu topped the list, emerging as the fastest in clearing departmental files. Naidu praised Atchannaidu’s performance and described it as an example of efficient governance and administrative responsiveness.
Following Atchannaidu in the rankings were ministers Nimmala Ramanaidu and Kondapalli Srinivas, who secured the next positions with strong performance ratings. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan was placed fourth in the list based on the speed of file clearances in his departments.
However, the review also highlighted delays in some departments. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha was ranked last in the list due to slower file clearance rates in the Home Department, which is considered one of the most crucial portfolios in the state government.
The Chief Minister reportedly cautioned ministers that delays in clearing files could slow down governance and affect the delivery of public services.
He emphasised that decisions must be taken within stipulated timelines and instructed all ministers to closely monitor the movement of files within their departments.
Naidu also underlined that improving speed and transparency in governance is a key priority of the state government. Ministers were advised to ensure faster decision-making so that development projects and public welfare schemes are implemented without unnecessary delays.
