In a major governance reform aimed at improving administrative efficiency and public service delivery, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has introduced a performance-based ranking system for all 175 Assembly constituencies in the state. As part of this initiative, a comprehensive survey was conducted to evaluate constituencies on multiple parameters, including implementation of government schemes, responsiveness of elected representatives, grievance redressal and overall public satisfaction.

The survey results, released recently, placed Vijayawada West Assembly constituency at the top of the state with an impressive score of 93 percent. The constituency is represented by BJP leader and former Union Minister Sujana Chowdary. The achievement has drawn attention as a benchmark for effective governance at the constituency level.

Close on its heels, Gajuwaka constituency, represented by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, secured the second position with 92 percent. Kakinada Assembly constituency and Vijayawada East followed in third and fourth places respectively, reflecting strong performance in administrative outreach and implementation of welfare initiatives.

The state government evaluated each constituency based on several key indicators such as timely execution of development programs, accessibility of MLAs to the public, prompt resolution of citizen grievances, and effectiveness in delivering government services. These metrics were designed to encourage greater accountability and performance-oriented governance among elected representatives.

Based on the assessment, all 175 constituencies were categorized into three performance grades – A+, A, and B. A total of 21 constituencies achieved the prestigious A+ grade, while 153 were placed in the A category. Only one constituency fell into the B grade, indicating that overall governance standards across the state remain strong.

Chandrababu Naidu, who has been emphasizing technology-driven administration and data-based decision-making, has been closely monitoring constituency-level performance through regular reviews. He recently held interactive meetings with MLAs to discuss their progress and advised them to focus on improving grassroots governance.

Special emphasis is being placed on first-time legislators, with the Chief Minister providing guidance and encouragement to help them better connect with the people and deliver effective results. MLAs say the ranking system is expected to create healthy competition among constituencies and motivate them to improve service delivery. The Chief Minister has directed all MLAs to utilize the survey feedback to strengthen governance mechanisms and ensure that the benefits of development and welfare programs reach every household in Andhra Pradesh.
