In commemoration of 75 years since the implementation of the Indian Constitution, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday unveiled a specially designed Assembly calendar for 2025 at his residence in Undavalli.
The calendar celebrates the contributions of notable Telugu personalities who played a pivotal role in the drafting of the Indian Constitution. Highlighting the greatness of each individual featured in the calendar, the Chief Minister paid rich tributes to their legacy.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the contributions of Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, who not only led the “Simon Go Back” movement during India's freedom struggle but also actively participated in shaping the Constitution. He credited Tanguturi for his significant role in developing key aspects like local governance and discretionary powers of Governors.
Similarly, he recalled the contributions of Dr. Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya as a member of the Constituent Assembly's Steering Committee and his leadership in making recommendations on administrative and legislative frameworks for Union Territories.
Chief Minister Naidu highlighted the critical inputs of several Telugu luminaries especially Durga Bai Deshmukh, Moturi Satyanarayana, NG Ranga, who played a vital role in advocating for national language policy, judicial independence, and combating human trafficking, made valuable recommendations on the national language.
Naidu also mentioned V.C. Kesava Rao's proposal to ensure fair land acquisition compensation and prevent discrimination in educational institutions and temples based on religion, caste, or gender. He highlighted the efforts of Alladi Krishnaswamy, a member of nine committees including the Drafting Committee, who actively participated in debates on citizenship, fundamental rights, and emergency provisions.
The Chief Minister also lauded Mosalikanti Thirumala Rao for incorporating Mahatma Gandhi's ideals into the Constitution and Kala Venkata Rao for his contributions to abolishing the zamindari system and ensuring property rights.
Expressing pride, the Chief Minister said that remembering leaders like Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, Kalluri Subba Rao, and Raja Shweta Chalapathi Rama Krishna Ranga Rao, who contributed immensely to the Constitution's development, is a moment of honor. The calendar features portraits of these icons alongside excerpts from their Constituent Assembly speeches, where available.
As part of the event, Chandrababu Naidu also launched official social media accounts for the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The platforms, accessible via handles like @LegisAndhra on X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube, and @legisandhra on Instagram and Facebook, aim to bring legislative updates closer to the public.
These accounts will provide real-time information and enhance citizen engagement with legislative activities.
The Chief Minister underscored the importance of using social media not just for dissemination of information but also as a platform for meaningful discussions on legislative matters. He praised Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu and Deputy Speaker K. Raghurama Krishna Raju for their support and innovative leadership in advancing legislative initiatives.
The event was attended by Speaker Ayyannapatrudu, Deputy Speaker Raju, and Legislative Secretary General Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara, among others.
