Describing the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam as a “super hit,” Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the massive event’s success was a result of “unprecedented public participation and meticulous coordination.” Speaking to the media after reviewing the event with ministers and officials at the Vizag Collectorate, the Chief Minister lauded the state’s people for their overwhelming response. “Earlier, when we requested people not to burst crackers on Diwali, they obliged. Now, when we invited them to join Yoga Day, they showed up as early as 2 AM.,” he noted.
Naidu revealed that over 3.03 lakh people participated using QR codes and joined the mass yoga session on RK Beach, making it one of the largest ever. The event also witnessed a Guinness World Record with 22,122 tribal students performing Surya Namaskar for 108 minutes.
Across the state, yoga was practiced at 1.3 lakh venues, involving 2.17 crore people and 1.44 lakh trained instructors. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to the tribal students, government staff, and media for their efforts in making the month-long Yogandhra Abhiyan a triumph. “We turned an initiative into a movement. Yoga is now a people’s revolution in Andhra,” he said..
Addressing public health, Naidu advocated daily yoga practice and a return to organic food habits. “If we spend an hour a day on yoga, we won’t need to spend on hospital bills,” he said, linking lifestyle to long-term healthcare savings. He highlighted the government’s partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in healthcare and agriculture, and revealed plans to digitize health records across the state.“Yoga and naturopathy will become game-changers,” he asserted.
“Visakhapatnam is emotionally close to the people of Andhra, and our government is ensuring equitable growth across all regions,” he said. He reiterated the importance of retaining Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and confirmed progress on Polavaram, Railway Zone development, and key industrial corridors.
The CM announced that major tech companies like Google, Cognizant, and TCS are set to invest in the city, while similar initiatives are being planned for Rayalaseema and rural belts. “We will turn the combined districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and East Godavari into an economic corridor. Vizag will soon be the next Mumbai,” he declared.
Recalling India’s economic reforms of 1991 and the digital revolution of 1995, he said Andhra Pradesh is now leading a new tech wave. “I’ve always supported innovation. Today, we are embracing AI, quantum computing, and digital governance to ensure better outcomes,” he said, praising Prime Minister Modi as a leader who understands the transformative power of technology like no other.
He emphasized that digital health records, AI in governance, and natural healing methods like yoga can revolutionize public service. “India is now seen as a global healing hub, and with initiatives like e-Ayush visas, we’re also building soft power,” he said.
Concluding on a visionary note, Naidu stated that Yoga Day’s success has reaffirmed the faith of people in collective progress. “Yoga has united us as a society — across classes, regions, and beliefs. We will take this spirit forward to build a healthier, stronger, and more inclusive Andhra Pradesh.
