Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has hailed the BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, attributing it to the trust people have in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Addressing a press conference from his residence in Undavalli, Naidu described the election result as a historic moment, emphasizing that the victory is not just for the BJP but for the people of India as a whole.

“The people of Delhi have made the right choice at the right time,” Naidu said, highlighting that the election results reaffirm the success of the ‘People-First’ model of governance. He noted that after 27 years, Delhi has once again embraced the BJP, marking a turning point in the capital’s political landscape.

Drawing a comparison between different states, Naidu credited strong governance, economic policies, and infrastructure development for Gujarat’s rise in per capita income, stating that states with stable governments and growth-driven policies always progress. He pointed out that while Telugu-speaking states now have a per capita income of $3,000 (approximately Rs.2.63 lakh), Bihar lags at just $750 (approximately Rs.65,000).

He underscored that economic growth stems from wealth creation, not just welfare schemes, and reminded the public that it was Telugu leader P.V. Narasimha Rao who introduced economic reforms in India back in 1991. Between 1995 and 2024, India’s per capita income increased ninefold, he noted, crediting technological advancements, IT development, and robust infrastructure as game-changers for economic progress.

Launching a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Arvind Kejriwal’s administration, Naidu criticized the deteriorating state of governance in Delhi, stating “Wherever you look in Delhi, there is garbage piled up. The city has become one of the most polluted capitals in the world due to poor governance and misguided policies.”

Naidu did not hold back in drawing parallels between Delhi under AAP and Andhra Pradesh under the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He accused the YSRCP government of fostering a liquor mafia, similar to how AAP mismanaged governance in Delhi. “In both Andhra Pradesh and Delhi, failed policies have led to disaster. The ruling parties ignored public aspirations and destroyed the future of their citizens.”

Taking a dig at politicians who focus solely on welfare schemes without strengthening the economy, Naidu posed a critical question, “If leaders cannot create wealth and increase state revenue, why are they in power?” He emphasized that improving living standards and increasing per capita income should be the primary goals of any government, stating that Andhra Pradesh and Delhi suffered due to misguided policies that failed to generate long-term economic growth.

Highlighting Gujarat’s success under Modi’s leadership, Naidu pointed out that the state has outpaced many others in economic growth due to stable governance, effective policies, and a focus on sustainable development. He stated that the public continues to place trust in Modi’s vision because his policies have delivered tangible results. “If India follows the right leadership and governance models, we can become the number one country in the world by 2047.”
