Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has taken serious note of the shocking incident in Narayanapuram village of Kuppam mandal, where a woman was reportedly tied to a tree and humiliated over her husband’s unpaid debt. Condemning the act as inhuman and unacceptable, the Chief Minister directed law enforcement authorities to take immediate and stringent action against the culprits.
According to initial reports, the victim’s husband, Thimmarayappa, had taken a loan from a man named Munikannappa but later fled the village, allegedly due to his inability to repay the debt. In a disturbing turn of events, Munikannappa and his family allegedly targeted Thimmarayappa’s wife, subjecting her to public humiliation by tying her to a tree and intimidating her over the unpaid dues.
Upon learning of the incident, CM Naidu promptly contacted the District Superintendent of Police, who confirmed that the accused had already been apprehended. Expressing grave concern over the brutality inflicted on the woman, Naidu ordered that strict legal action be pursued to ensure justice is served without delay. “This kind of behavior is not only unlawful but deeply inhumane. Such actions will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the Chief Minister stated.
He further instructed the police to adopt preventive measures to ensure such incidents do not recur, emphasizing the need for community awareness and prompt law enforcement. CM Naidu also directed district officials to extend full support to the victim and her family, ensuring access to medical care, legal assistance, and psychological counseling if needed. “The administration must stand by the victim. We must show that the system will protect and support the vulnerable,” he added.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the region, with civil society groups calling for stricter enforcement of laws to protect women from such targeted acts of violence.
