Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday called on Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, pressing for expedited approval of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project, estimated to cost Rs 38,595 crore.

During the meeting, the chief minister informed Khattar that a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) covering a 122.9 km stretch across seven corridors under Metro Phase-II has already been submitted to the Union Ministry.

Reddy urged that the project be sanctioned as a joint venture between the Centre and Telangana state, according to a statement issued by the Telangana government.

The chief minister highlighted the pressing need to expand the metro network in step with Hyderabad's rapid urban growth, stressing the importance of improving commuter connectivity across the city.

Reddy also requested the Union Minister to take up the RGI Airport–Bharat Future City corridor as Metro Phase-III, adding that the DPR for this corridor had also been submitted.

Revanth Reddy also apprised Khattar of the state government's decision to take over Metro Phase-I from L&TMRHL, saying the move was aimed at ensuring the smooth and seamless execution of the Phase-II and Phase-III expansion projects. With the Phase-I now under government control, he said, the groundwork for the upcoming phases had been firmly laid.

The meeting was attended by Union Secretary for Housing and Urban Affairs K Srinivas, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister B Ajith Reddy, HMRCL Managing Director Sarfaraz Ahmed, among others.
