To safeguard government properties and to curb land encroachments, Telangana government had taken a significant step by inaugurating the state’s first Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) police station at Buddha Bhavan here on Thursday.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, other ministers and top officials were present at the inauguration ceremony of the first HYDRAA police station. After inaugurating the dedicated police station of HYDRAA police station, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally inspected the HYDRAA Police Station and launched its website.

He also flagged off 122 Hydra vehicles, including 21 DRF Trucks, 55 Scorpios, 4 Innova, Crysta, 5 Minibuses and Trucks and 37 two-wheelers. HYDRAA Commissioner Ranganath showed Chief Minister around and explained how different departments in the station will work to keep the city safe.

Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy stated that the State government has established HYDRAA with the noble aim of preserving the historic city of Hyderabad and has introduced this initiative to revitalize the city.

He pointed out that Bangalore is experiencing drinking water shortages due to inadequate protection of water tanks. Similarly, other major cities such as Mumbai and Chennai are encountering floods. Meanwhile, Delhi is declaring holidays for Parliament and schools because of insufficient pollution control measures. As a result, metropolitan areas are becoming increasingly uninhabitable. The Chief Minister warned that without proper environmental protection, Hyderabad may face similar challenges.

He emphasized that HYDRAA is not solely focused on demolitions. It also plays a crucial role in preventing water from pooling on roadways, ensuring the restoration of power, and managing traffic flow during the rainy season.

The Chief Minister urged the HYDRAA officials to treat the people with humanity and compassion and bring their problems to the attention of the government to make alternative arrangements for the poor, while treating the land grabbers strictly. CM announced that the Hydra policing system will soon be expanded across Telangana, establishing similar stations in all districts to intensify surveillance on land-related issues and crimes.
