Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has sanctioned Rs 60 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to meet urgent expenses in BC, SC, ST, and Minority welfare hostels across Telangana. The funds will cover essential needs such as diet charges, temporary staff salaries, repairs to motor equipment, and other emergency maintenance works.
At a comprehensive review meeting held at ICCC, the Chief Minister handed over cheques to senior officials of the concerned welfare departments. He directed that welfare hostels and educational institutions must adopt facial recognition systems to ensure accountability and accurate data on students, teaching, and non-teaching staff.
The Chief Minister emphasized strict monitoring of food quality and instructed officials to use a dedicated mobile app to track nutrition levels and caloric intake of students. He stressed timely supply of uniforms and textbooks and directed that all hostel facilities and maintenance information be regularly updated on a centralized dashboard for real-time tracking.
Highlighting the importance of student health, CM Revanth Reddy ordered the linkage of welfare hostels with nearby government and private medical colleges, community health centres, and area hospitals. He instructed that medical camps be conducted regularly, and doctors should remain available to hostel students during emergencies through a 24x7 hotline.
District Collectors and Additional Collectors were directed to make frequent inspections to ensure quality services. The CM asked the Chief Secretary, A. Ramakrishna Rao, and Special Chief Secretary for Welfare Departments, Sabyasachi Ghosh, to prepare a detailed action plan on scholarships, staff salaries, diet charges, infrastructure expenses, and arrear payments.
Revanth Reddy also directed officials to mobilize funds from Centrally Sponsored Schemes and release the state’s matching grants promptly. Stressing the use of EdTech platforms for students preparing for competitive exams, he suggested publicizing welfare services through social media to counter misinformation.
Earlier, Special Chief Secretary Sabyasachi Ghosh presented an overview of hostel conditions. Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar (BC Welfare), Adluri Laxman Kumar (SC, ST & Minority Welfare), and senior officials including CM’s advisors Vem Narender Reddy and Mohammed Shabbir Ali attended the review meeting.
