Bejjur, Venkatapuram drenched with over 20 cm rainfall; Karimnagar sees heavy downpour
In view of continuous heavy rains lashing several districts, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, currently in New Delhi, has instructed all district collectors to remain on high alert and ensure coordinated disaster management efforts. Holding a review with Chief Minister’s Office officials, he emphasized that all departments must work in tandem to implement prompt relief measures, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The Chief Minister directed officials to proactively alert residents in vulnerable regions such as overflowing lakes, tanks, and river banks. He stressed that district officials must remain available within their respective jurisdictions and be fully prepared to address any emergencies resulting from the ongoing weather conditions. Revanth Reddy also insisted that senior officers conduct regular reviews and maintain communication with the ground-level teams to minimize loss of life and property. Immediate assistance should be extended wherever required, and safety protocols must be stringently followed.
Monsoon rages across Telangana
The South-West monsoon continues to remain vigorous over Telangana, triggering widespread rainfall across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy spells at isolated locations. Notably, Bejjur in Kumaram Bheem district recorded 24 cm, Venkatapuram in Mulugu district received 23 cm, and Karimnagar witnessed 12 cm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.
As per IMD data recorded at 8:30 AM on July 24, Hyderabad received 21.6 mm of rain, while Nizamabad topped the list among major towns with 36.3 mm. Other districts such as Mahabubnagar (10.4 mm), Hanmakonda (12.4 mm), and Medak (18 mm) also experienced significant rainfall. Several low-lying and forest fringe areas in Mulugu and surrounding districts received intense to extremely heavy rainfall, affecting normal life.
Three-Day Weather forecast for Telangana
For July 24–25, the IMD predicts light to moderate rain or thundershowers across most parts of Telangana. Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Warangal, and Hanmakonda districts. Thunderstorms with gusty winds (30–40 kmph) and lightning are likely in all districts. From July 25–26, the rain activity will persist with warnings for heavy rainfall in Adilabad, Nizamabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, and several others. On July 26–27, the rainfall intensity is expected to decrease with light to moderate showers in a few areas, but thunderstorm alerts continue.
Hyderabad & Neighbourhood Outlook
For Hyderabad city and its surroundings, the forecast indicates generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall on July 24 and 25. Gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are expected, with hazy morning conditions. The maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 28–29°C and 21°C respectively. With 21.6 mm of rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours, waterlogging and slippery roads are expected in parts of the city. The IMD has advised restricted movement and called upon municipal authorities to issue public advisories and clear water stagnation where needed.
All emergency services and departments—especially those dealing with electricity, municipal drainage, and traffic—have been urged to stay on high alert. The IMD recommends coordinated preparedness to prevent any disruption or damage from the prevailing weather conditions.
