NTR District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha called on every family to take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which was useful for providing a clean environment for future generations and achieving economic self-reliance, and to make the district No. 1 in the implementation of the scheme.

On Friday, the Collector, along with officials, visited the house of retired R&B engineer ARSP Prasad, who is benefiting from the PM Suryagarh scheme, in Guntupalli, Ibrahimpatnam mandal. They inspected the solar power system he had set up through the Suryagarh scheme. Before setting up this system, they examined the current electricity bills.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the Prime Minister and Chief Minister have paid special attention to the Surya Ghar scheme with the aim of encouraging everyone to use renewable energy that is good for the environment and thus for a healthy life. He said that this scheme was launched on February 15, 2024.

He said that by installing a solar system on the roof of the house with a subsidy and at a very low cost, the burden of current bills can be reduced. ARSP Prasad's house used to receive an electricity bill of about three thousand in the past. But now  he is receiving a completely zero bill.

Looking at the latest bill, he says that he after fulfilling  his needs and returning back  the remaining electricity to the grid, he got an opportunity to get Rs. 325 back from the government. He said that this event will help us understand the extent of the benefits of the scheme. Collector Lakshmi suggested that others should also take him as an inspiration and set up a solar rooftop.

Anyone who has their own house and has a current connection can easily register through www.pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Rs. A 3 kW solar panel worth Rs. 2 lakh can be installed on the roof of a house with a subsidy of Rs. 78 thousand. The beneficiary will have to pay a share of Rs. 20 thousand and the remaining amount can be obtained as a bank loan at a low interest rate, the Collector explained.

Retired Roads & Buildings department engineer ARSP Prasad, a beneficiary of the scheme, said that he installed a 3 KV capacity solar system five months ago through the PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana. He said that he received a subsidy of Rs. 78 thousand and is very happy with this scheme.

He said that he is getting income by giving surplus electricity to the government. He said that he has installed this solar power system for two more people. He explained that he will encourage ten more people to get benefit from the scheme as a social responsibility.
