Collector serious over negligence in paddy procurement

District Collector Prateek Jain expressed serious displeasure over negligence, lack of coordination, and monitoring failures in paddy procurement operations in Hatnoor mandal. In view of the difficulties being faced by farmers, the Collector issued show cause notices to District Cooperative Officer (DCO) Kiran Kumar, Hatnoor MPDO B. Shankar, and Assistant Project Manager (APM) Rajashekhar.

The Collector stated that paddy procurement activities in Hatnoor mandal were not being carried out satisfactorily and that serious deficiencies had been observed in supervision, monitoring, and coordination at the procurement centres. Despite repeated instructions issued to the concerned officials, there had been no noticeable improvement in the situation, resulting in severe inconvenience to farmers, he said.

Collector further observed that ineffective field-level supervision, delays in the procurement process, and lack of coordination among the concerned departments and agencies were adversely affecting procurement operations. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the officials concerned to ensure timely completion of paddy procurement without causing inconvenience to farmers. Making it clear that negligence in paddy procurement would not be tolerated,   In this regard, show cause notices were issued to the concerned officials directing them to submit their explanation within three days.
