The Election Commission has initiated a large-scale exercise to comprehensively cleanse and update the voter list in Andhra Pradesh. State Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls would be conducted in a completely transparent manner across the state.

He stated that a door-to-door survey would be carried out to identify and remove the names of deceased voters, duplicate entries, and those who have permanently migrated to other locations. At the same time, strict verification measures would be implemented to ensure that not a single genuine voter is wrongly deleted from the electoral rolls.

Explaining the process, Vivek Yadav said as many as 46,397 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would conduct house-to-house verification from June 15 to July 14. During the survey, every voter would be provided with two enumeration forms. One form must be filled and submitted by the voter, while the second would carry the BLO’s signature and be handed over as an acknowledgement receipt.

“Our objective is to ensure that ineligible persons do not remain on the voter list while eligible voters are not excluded,” the CEO said.

Following the completion of the survey, the draft electoral roll will be published on July 21. Objections and claims will then be accepted for a month before the final electoral rolls are released on September 22.

Notably, this is the first comprehensive revision of voter lists in bifurcated Andhra Pradesh since the 2002 revision conducted in the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh.
