At the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on Infrastructure and Capital Works, Deputy Chief Minister and Committee Chairman Bhatti Vikramarka stressed the importance of strategic investments for the state’s rapid development. He directed officials to use resources wisely and complete projects across departments based on priority.
During a review meeting at the Secretariat with Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Seethakka, Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted issues from the previous decade. He noted that traditionally, projects were approved at a ratio of 1:3 based on revenue and budget. However, the former government approved works at a disproportionate 1:25 ratio, often starting projects without sufficient funds, leaving many incomplete.
This has caused a shortage of funds, stalling ongoing projects and preventing new proposals from Ministers.
The Deputy Chief Minister warned that no projects are currently near completion, and funds cannot be released due to past mismanagement. He instructed Secretaries to address this critical situation urgently.
Officials were ordered to prioritize projects that are at least 95% complete and develop clear plans to advance similar works. Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized balanced representation across all constituencies during development.
He also urged prioritizing projects funded by Central government schemes and NABARD assistance to ensure their timely completion. Ministers cautioned against repeating past mistakes where some departments received full priority while others were neglected.
Lastly, officials were reminded to plan development spending alongside revenue enhancement efforts. Senior officials must coordinate with their Ministers before Sub-Committee meetings to prepare prioritized lists of projects, ensuring transparent and efficient progress.
