IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu dismissed BRS leader K T Rama Rao’s claim that Kaynes Semiconductor moved from Hyderabad to Gujarat due to the Telangana Government's failure as a blatant falsehood. He called it a desperate attempt to cover up KTR’s own shortcomings.
‘The truth is simple—Kaynes didn't flee Telangana. It was drawn to Gujarat due to massive financial incentives from both the Central and Gujarat Governments, not because of any policy failure here,’ the Minister stated. He accused KTR of deliberately misleading the people of Telangana with politically motivated claims.
Sridhar Babu highlighted that under the Centre’s Rs 76,000 crore India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), a 50% subsidy is offered to semiconductor projects. Kaynes Semiconductor, which is investing Rs 3,307 crore in Gujarat’s Sanand, was granted Rs 1,654.5 crore by the Centre. On top of that, the Gujarat Government added 40% of that subsidy, another Rs 661 crore bringing total subsidies to Rs 2,314.9 crore, nearly 70% of the project cost.
‘In contrast, Telangana’s policy offers about Rs 330 crore in incentives for such projects. Despite ISM promising equal support nationwide, Gujarat remains the only state receiving such extensive central backing,’ he noted. The Minister said that semiconductor companies are naturally inclined towards Gujarat, given the generous and predictable support from both the Centre and the state government there. This favoritism from the BJP-led Centre amounts to ‘stepmotherly treatment’ of other states, especially Telangana.
‘Instead of questioning this central bias, KTR chooses to accuse the state government, exposing his unwillingness to confront the BJP. His silence on the Centre’s favoritism speaks louder than his words,’ Sridhar Babu said. He also criticized the BRS for running daily misinformation campaigns, likening their tactics to Goebbels-style propaganda. ‘They seem to believe people will blindly accept their lies. But Telangana’s citizens are smarter than that,’ he concluded.
