Congress appointments trigger wide discontent

The recent appointment of Congress mandal presidents in Asifabad Assembly constituency has sparked widespread discontent within the party, with senior leaders, grassroots workers and representatives of various social groups openly questioning the selection process. The controversy has gained momentum on WhatsApp groups and social media platforms, where party workers have voiced strong criticism.

Former ZPTC member and ex-sarpanch Atram Laxman Rao demanded an immediate review of the appointment of the Kerameri mandal Congress president. He alleged that the post had been given to a person who was previously associated with the BRS and lacked commitment to Congress ideology, while long-serving party workers had been ignored. Such decisions, he warned, could politically damage the party.

In Asifabad mandal, rural Congress leaders have objected to the appointment of a leader from the municipal area instead of a grassroots representative from the mandal. They argued that workers who strengthened the party at the village level deserved priority and warned of collective resignations if their concerns were ignored. Dalit leaders have also expressed disappointment, pointing out that none of the eight newly appointed mandal presidents in the constituency belongs to the Scheduled Caste community. They questioned the party's commitment to social justice, saying SC leaders had been completely overlooked.
