Rain exposes Nizampur road woes

The Nizampur main road in Sadasivapet mandal has turned into a nightmare for commuters, with rainwater filling up deep potholes and leaving the stretch resembling a water body rather than a road.

The badly damaged road serves as a crucial route for residents of Nizampur, Kolkur, Pottipalli, Machireddypalli and Thimmannagudem villages. Hundreds of people depend on this road daily for education, healthcare, agriculture, jobs and business activities. However, the deteriorating condition of the road has made every journey risky, locals said.

Following recent rains, several potholes have become filled with water, making it difficult for motorists to judge their depth. Two-wheeler riders are facing frequent accidents while emergency vehicles, including ambulances, are also struggling to move quickly on the damaged stretch.

Farmers are finding it difficult to transport agricultural produce to markets, while students and employees are facing daily hardships due to the poor road condition. Residents alleged that despite repeated appeals to officials and public representatives, no permanent repair works have been taken up so far.

“Six villages are suffering due to this road, but there is no one to address our problems,” locals said.

Residents urged authorities to immediately take up repair works and restore safe transportation facilities before more accidents occur. They alleged that the condition of the road reflects the negligence of the authorities towards basic infrastructure needs.
