‘Congress fails to fulfil six guarantees even after 1,000 days’

Former Minister and BRS Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of completely failing to fulfil its six guarantees, despite promising to implement them within 100 days of coming to power.

A ‘charge sheet’ highlighting the alleged failures of the Congress government was released at Telangana Bhavan here under the leadership of BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao, marking 1,000 days since the Congress government assumed office.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who played a key role in achieving statehood for Telangana, had built the new State with his experience and hard work in accordance with the aspirations of the people.

He claimed that the BRS government had provided nine-and-a-half years of good governance and implemented several programmes that became models for the country. However, after the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy came to power, the systems developed during the previous regime were gradually deteriorating, he alleged.

“Education, healthcare, power supply, drinking water and law and order have all collapsed,” Harish Rao alleged. He said farmers had received 24-hour free power during the KCR regime, whereas they were now facing difficulties in getting adequate electricity under the Revanth Reddy government.

Harish Rao also alleged that Telangana’s healthcare system, which he claimed had emerged as one of the best in the country, had deteriorated to the extent that even basic medicines were unavailable in government hospitals.

“Telangana, which should have been progressing rapidly, is now moving towards regression due to the incompetence of the Congress government,” he said. He alleged that the government’s failure to implement the six guarantees had caused hardships to people across various sectors.

Harish Rao said the BRS had already announced a seven-day protest programme to mount pressure on the government to safeguard public systems, fulfil the six guarantees and address people’s problems. “As the principal Opposition party, we will continue our fight by standing with the people,” he said.
