Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Saturday criticised former minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao for stating that the BRS would scrap the Bharat Future City project and revive Pharma City if it returns to power in Telangana.

Addressing the media at the CLP office in the Assembly, Sridhar Babu said Harish Rao’s remarks were obstructing the State’s development. He said opposition parties should offer constructive criticism instead of engaging in “destructive politics” that hampers progress.

“Politics is temporary, but the interests of the State are permanent. Unfortunately, BRS leaders have still not come out of the disappointment of their election defeat. Even while in the United States, Harish Rao is daydreaming about returning to power and cancelling Bharat Future City,” he said.

The Minister said the Bharat Future City project was aimed at strengthening Telangana’s global image and would emerge as a major engine of the State’s economy in the coming years. He asserted that people would reject any attempt to halt the project.

Sridhar Babu also clarified that Pharma City had not been cancelled and that the government had informed the High Court accordingly. He said a Life Sciences Park would be established on the acquired land and accused the previous BRS government of attempting to promote “polluting industries” under the Pharma City plan.

“Our government is committed to promoting pharma industries without pollution. We are dedicated to Green Pharma,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy also hit back at Harish Rao over his remarks on Future City. In a post on X, Ponguleti questioned how Harish Rao could talk about stopping the project while being uncertain about his own political future within the BRS.

He accused the previous BRS government of failing to complete even a single Metro station during its ten-year rule and alleged that the party had obstructed projects such as the Musi rejuvenation programme and industrial development initiatives.

Ponguleti asserted that the Congress government was committed to building a modern city for Telangana’s future and declared that the Future City project would continue despite opposition. “The BRS has no future; Future City is unstoppable,” he said.
