Could not care less: Trump on Iran’s MoU exit

It’s a very sad thing. We hate to see it happen. It’s in service to our country... We’re never, they’re never going to allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon.

Washington: US President Donald Trump said he “couldn’t care less” after Iran announced it was no longer abiding by the US-Iran MoU. In a brief phone interview with News Nation, Trump dismissed Tehran’s decision, saying the US remained focused on ensuring Iran “never” acquires a nuclear weapon. Trump described their deaths as “a very sad thing”.

He added the Republican party should add Iran to the Russian sanctions bill, argu­ing this is what Lindsey Graham, the late Republican senator and his close political ally, wanted. “That’s what Lindsey wanted to do, and it was going to happen. Important!” he wrote on the Truth Social. The bill would allow Trump to place 100% tariffs on goods coming from the top five buyers of Russian oil ​and natural gas.

“Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve,” Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said, reacting to the death of two American soldiers in Jordan.

Senior commander Ali Abdullahi said the country’s armed forces would respond decisively to “any aggression or barbarism”.
