Russia unleashes one of biggest ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv

Kyiv: Russia launched one of its biggest ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine overnight, killing five people and injuring at least 35 in Kyiv and Kharkiv, Ukrainian officials said on Sunday.

Four people were killed and 19 injured in Kharkiv after a strike hit a postal terminal, while one person died and 16 others were wounded in Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelens­kyy described the assault on the capital as one of the most massive ballistic attacks since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Ukraine’s air force said Russia fired 41 missiles, incl­uding Iskander and Zircon missiles, and 125 drones. Air defences intercepted 18 missiles and 108 drones.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck three oil depots and another fuel facility in Russia’s Stavropol region, besides hitting three Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea. Russia said it intercepted scores of Ukrainian drones overnight as cross-bo­r­der attacks intensified. —AP
