CS Reviews agenda for south zone council meeting

Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand reviewed the draft agenda of the upcoming Southern Zonal Council meeting with the officials of the relevant departments at the State Secretariat on Monday. He reviewed with the officials the steps to be taken to enable the Zonal Council meeting to discuss various pending issues related to the state bifurcation. 

In particular, the development made so far in the areas of Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor mentioned in Schedule 13 of the Andhra Pradesh State Division Act, expansion of Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati airports, upgrading them in accordance with international standards, establishment of rapid rail connectivity with Amaravati, and the steps to be taken thereafter were reviewed. 

Similarly, the assistance received so far from the Center for the development of 7 backward districts of Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema and the funds to be received were discussed.

In addition, the CS discussed resource gap funding with the officials regarding the funds received from the Center and the funds still to be received.CS Vijayanand instructed the officials to review and provide fully updated information on the issues such as the division of AP Bhavan in Delhi, the establishment of various central educational institutions, the assistance received from the Center for the construction of the capital of Amaravati, etc. as mentioned in the Bifurcation Act.SRC Secretary S. Balasubrahmanyam, I&I Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, Home Department Principal Secretary Kumar Vishwajit, Additional DGP RK Meena and other officials participated in this meeting.
