In a significant move to ease the reporting process for crime victims, Cyberabad Police have introduced the facility to register First Information Reports (FIRs) at the victim’s residence. The initiative has already drawn appreciation from residents and law enforcement officials alike.
According to Dundigal Inspector P. Satish, on the morning of January 21, 2026, Tummalapalli Nagender Krishna reported a burglary at his Green Woods villa in Gagillapur. The victim had returned from a Sankranti trip to Vijayawada on the night of January 20 and found his back door broken. Two kilograms of silver, 10 grams of gold, and Rs. 5,000 in cash were missing from his safe. He immediately informed the police through Dial 100.
Responding swiftly, Dundigal DI M. Bal Reddy and his team reached the residence, recorded the complaint, and registered a case (Cr.no 56/2026 U/S 331(4)305 BNS). SI Rammohan handed over the FIR copy to the complainant on the spot. Despite his distress over the stolen property, the victim expressed satisfaction over the prompt action.
Cyberabad Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh, IPS, commended the Dundigal police team for their efficiency and professionalism. The new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) ensures that in cases involving women, children, or vulnerable individuals, including assault, property disputes, POCSO, SC/ST atrocity cases, child marriage prohibition, theft, chain snatching, robbery, and ragging, FIRs can now be registered at the victim’s residence without the need to visit the police station.
The initiative aims to reduce trauma and fear for victims while preserving their rights and dignity. Victims or their representatives can contact emergency numbers 100 or 112 to inform the police, who will then arrive at the scene, record statements, secure the crime scene, collect evidence, and provide an FIR copy immediately at the location.
This policy marks a progressive step in citizen-friendly policing within the Cyberabad Commissionerate, emphasizing professional service with empathy and efficiency.
