Cyberabad Police returned 1,016 lost and stolen mobile phones to their owners during the 10th phase of a recovery drive held at the Cyberabad Police Commissioner’s Office on March 10. The recovered phones are estimated to be worth around Rs 3.04 crore.
The devices were traced through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and recovered by various Central Crime Station (CCS) units under the commissionerate. Among them, CCS Shamshabad recovered 265 phones, CCS Serilingampally 255, CCS Quthbullapur 181, CCS Kukatpally 160 and CCS Rajendranagar 155 devices.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh handed over the phones to the victims and said advanced technology was helping police track missing devices and return them to their owners. He advised people to immediately report lost or stolen phones on the CEIR portal to prevent misuse.
Police also warned citizens to remain cautious about cyber frauds, including fake investment offers and suspicious online links. Officials said “Operation Crackdown” is being conducted across Telangana to take strict action against cyber criminals and those supporting such activities.
Several victims expressed relief after getting their phones back. A woman who lost her phone at an exhibition said she had little hope of recovering it but was surprised when police informed her it had been traced and returned.
