Cyberabad traffic police caught 272 offenders in a special drunk driving test, which was conducted this weekend.

According to the Cyberabad traffic police, a total of 189 two-wheelers, 12 three-wheelers, 66 four-wheelers and 5 heavy vehicles were caught in the special drive. Around 245 offenders were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 35mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml, 18 offenders were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 200 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, 9 offender were caught with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 301 mg/100 ml to 500 mg/100 ml.

Police said that all those caught will be produced before the court. If anybody indulges in driving under the influence of alcohol and cause accidents killing people, such persons will be arrested and sent to jail under section 105 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) for which maximum punishment is 10 years of jail and with fine, traffic police said.
