People should remain vigilant against ganja and cyber crimes and public cooperation is essential to build a drug-free and crime-free society, said Mancherial DCP Eggadi Bhaskar. He was the Chief Guest at a public awareness program held on Thursday at Subhash Nagar under the Bellampalli-2 Town Police Station limits in Mancherial district, as part of the ‘Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika’ initiative. Speaking on the occasion, the DCP said that the consumption of ganja and other narcotic substances severely affects the health, future, education, and employment opportunities of the youth.
He warned that individuals addicted to drugs are likely to become a burden on their families and society. He advised the youth to stay away from drugs and urged parents to continuously monitor their children’s behavior. Highlighting the rising cyber crimes, he created awareness among the public and cautioned them to be alert against online frauds, OTP frauds, fake investment schemes, scams through social media, fake links, and digital frauds. He stated that the police department is giving top priority to women’s safety.
He advised women and girls not to hesitate to approach the police if they face any kind of harassment, domestic violence, cyber harassment, or other problems. The awareness program was attended by Bellampalli ACP Kiran Kumar, Bellampalli-2 Town SI Kiran Kumar, people’s representatives, association leaders, colony residents, youth, women, community members, police officers and staff.
